The best way to see the work we do at Pacific Rim Institute is to visit us in person. Summer and winter, rain, snow, or sunshine, our trails are open every day from dawn to dusk.

Three Different Ecosystems

Pacific Rim Institute sits on 175 acres of land, with three different ecosystems to experience throughout the year.

Prairie

Our prairie is in bloom from late March to early October. Early spring flowers include camas, golden paintbrush, spring-gold, chocolate lilies, and shooting stars. Later flowers include lupine, showy daisies, Oregon sunshine, and yarrow.

Oak Savanna

Garry oaks (Quercus garryana) are maintained in partnership with the Sound Water Stewards. These lightly forested grasslands provide habitats for tree and ground nesting birds, insects, small mammals, and shade for larger mammals.

Forest

On the North side of our property, the forest path goes past a barn from 1911. Visit in early summer to enjoy the scent of flowers from the forest floor a chance to escape from the heat, or in any season to enjoy the scenery and the sounds of birds and insects.
